THE SOUND OF SILENCE
To hear the sound of silence
So sweet and softly o’er
The din of life so deafening
The chaos and furore.
Is solitude so precious
To cure my doubts and fears.
With stillness and serenity
And dry my salty tears.
When hard times came a knocking
With spirits drooping low
I found a source of solitude
I thought I’d never know.
In silent contemplation
With peace it shrouded me
Filled me with its soothing grace
To lift and set me free.
Yes, silence is a powerful force
Whose strength we all can feel,
Its quietness halts the loudest word
More than a church bell peal.
Against it there is no resist;
It’s futile for to try
For it is power and eloquence,
A blessing from on high.
