The Boys in White and Blue
Paddy Cummins
(Sung to the air of: ‘The Holy Ground’
Good luck to our boys in White and Blue
A thousand times and more
As you march on to the holy ground
Like our heroes did before
We will all be there in spirit
And when the battle’s o’er
With joy we’ll sup from the sacred cup
And celebrate galore.
(Chorus)
Come on the boys in White and Blue
We’re on our way to glory
The Deise spark will light Croke Park
With flames of song and story.
And when our memories wander back
To the glory days of old
To our men so fine in fifty-nine
All heroes brave and bold
We played the Black and Amber
We beat them true and true
With glasses raised the bonfires blazed
For our boys in white and blue.
(Chorus)
Come on the boys in White and Blue
We’re on our way to glory
The Deise spark will light Croke Park
With flames of song and story.
So rise up Viking Waterford
We’re on our march again
With hearts so pure they’ll cross the Suir
A team of powerful men.
We’ll all be here to cheer you on
To inspire and lift you up
With good old wine from fifty-nine
We’ll fill the McCarthy cup.
(Chorus)
Come on the boys in White and Blue
We’re on our way to glory
The Deise spark will light Croke Park
With flames of song and story.

I don’t know a thing about hurling, but it is a fine poem and good luck to them.
Hurling is the national game of Ireland. Every county compete for the All-Ireland championship – the final of which is on Sunday next. My county, Waterford is in the final against County Galway.
Thank you, Onisha, for your interest and kind comment.
