Lying there in sweet serenity,
A bright young soul awaits Eternity.
Bewildered, but contented with the call,
Too early for a verdant leaf to fall.
So much of life he has not seen or heard,
The beautiful, the crude and the absurd.
But rich and fertile virtues gently sown
In hearts and minds of people he has known.
And then I watch his graceful Spirit fly,
A golden feather floating to the sky.
His earthly visit well fulfilled its plan,
And I’m a better educated man.
